Dr Poon Ngar Yee

Dr Poon Ngar Yee
Dr Poon Ngar Yee is a senior consultant psychiatrist with extensive clinical experience in the assessment and management of mental health conditions affecting male and female patients across different age groups. She co-founded Serenity Clinic in Novena, Singapore. Prior to the formation of Serenity Clinic, Dr Poon was the Head of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service and a Senior Consultant Psychiatrist at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH). She was also a Clinical Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School and was involved in the training of undergraduate medical students from Duke-NUS and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, as well as doctors in the Psychiatry Residency Programme. She continues to maintain her affiliation with KKH as a Visiting Consultant and advisor for the Women’s Mental Health Service and the Response, Early Intervention and Assessment in Community Mental Health (REACH) East Team.

Her subspecialty clinical interests include Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Women’s Mental Health. Her clinical experience covers a range of conditions, including neurodevelopmental conditions such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum conditions, mood and anxiety disorders, obsessive–compulsive disorder, psychosomatic disorders, infant mental health, mother–child bonding, and perinatal and women’s mental health concerns. Her work at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, the Institute of Mental Health, Changi General Hospital, and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital has provided her with broad clinical exposure to adult, child, and adolescent psychiatric care.

In her clinical practice, Dr Poon values building a respectful and trusting therapeutic relationship with patients. She takes time to understand each person’s experiences, concerns, and circumstances, and works collaboratively to develop care plans that are guided by clinical assessment and evidence-based practice.
