Dr Ng Chung Sien graduated in 1999 from National University of Singapore. He obtained his Masters of Sports Medicine from the University of Queensland Australia in 2012. Dr Ng is the first physician in Singapore to complete the Sports Medicine Practitioner training program in Changi General Hospital.
Dr Ng served as sports physician during the 2009 Asian Youth Olympic Games, 2010 Youth Olympic Games and the 2014 ASEAN Games. He was appointed Chief Medical Officer for both the Youth Olympic Games Triathlon event and for Team Singapore at the 2013 SEA Games. In addition, Dr Ng was the Medical Director for international events such as OSIM International Triathlon, ESPN Asian MMA Tournaments and served in the race track medical support team as extrication leader and driver for FORMULA 1™ Singapore Grand Prix. Dr Ng sits on the Singapore Football Association’s Medical Committee as Deputy Chairman of Sports Science and is team physician to the Singapore Rugby Union.
Dr Ng is the Course Director for Exercise is Medicine Singapore (EIMS). As part of the credentialing of EIMS, Dr Ng is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine for Clinical Exercise Specialist, EIM Credential Level 3 and Physical Activity in Public Health Specialist. As EIMS Course Director, Dr Ng has presented in multiple international and regional conferences. He is also a faculty member of SingHealth Family Medicine Residency program to train Family Physicians.
Dr Ng’s areas of special interest include pre-participation screening, sports injuries and weight management. During school days, Dr Ng participated competitively in Taekwondo, athletics, football and rugby. He wakeboards and snowboards during his leisure time. In recent years, Dr Ng started competitive sailing in events like the Singapore Straits Regatta and won the 2013 Marina Bay Corporate Sailing League.
