Dr Looi is an eminent Orthopedic, Hand Wrist and Reconstructive Microvascular surgeon.

Dr Looi completed his basic medical and surgical degrees in Singapore and progressed to become a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1994. He then furthered his training at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, USA, where he resided and honed his skills in Orthopedic, Hand, Wrist and Microsurgery with many renowned surgeons from around the world.

 Dr Looi brought arthroscopic wrist surgery to Singapore following completion of the prestigious fellowship in Mayo clinic, Minnesota, USA. He was then elected as the President of the Singapore Society for Hand Surgery where he pioneered wrist arthroscopy. Dr Looi subsequently set up and chaired a subspecialty interest group in wrist surgery, where he championed the arthroscopic treatment in wrist conditions. A regular speaker at local, regional and international meetings, Dr Looi has much of his academic research featured in numerous publications and is involved in ongoing National Medical Research Council funded research projects with the National University Hospital.

Dr Looi was a recipient of numerous scholarships and awards such as the NUH Young Doctors Award of 2000, the Young Orthopedic Surgeon Award of 2000, SOA ambassador to HKOA in 2000, and the Ministry of Health Manpower Development Plan Fellowship to USA (Hand Surgery) in 1999.

 Dr Looi is now director of the Hand Wrist and Microsurgical Centre with services located in Gleneagles Medical Centre, Mt Alvernia Hospital and Novena Medical Centre in Singapore. He continues to provide most up-to-date care for patients with Sports, Orthopedic, Hand, Wrist and Reconstructive Microsurgical conditions.

 Dr Looi is well-known by patients and colleagues to be a cheerful, exuberant and extremely approachable doctor. His work philosophy is to be always willing to spend time to connect with patients, to understand their needs, to explain medical conditions to patients and to discuss treatment modalities with them.

He is also passionate about medical education in Hand surgery both for patients, public and medical professionals. He releases educational videos and lectures regularly in public forums. Dr Looi accepts invitations to speak on specific topics requested by various interest groups, such as cancer patients, industry safety leaders and various geriatric associations.
